Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the much-awaited double-decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk virtually today at 10 AM. The project, developed by PMRDA, is expected to ease chronic traffic congestion at one of Pune’s busiest intersections.
The SPPU Chowk flyover has been a long-standing demand from commuters navigating heavy traffic between Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner, and Pashan. With the inauguration of the Baner arm, the integrated double-decker structure is set to provide significant relief to thousands of daily travelers.
Project Significance
The flyover is designed to streamline traffic flow at University Chowk, a junction notorious for 30–45 minute delays during peak hours. The innovative double-decker design connects multiple corridors, including the Aundh–Shivajinagar route, which was opened in August 2025.
Virtual Inauguration
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the structure through an online ceremony, marking a milestone in Pune’s infrastructure development. The project reflects the government’s focus on modernizing urban transport and reducing commuter stress.
Impact On Commuters
Once fully operational, the flyover is expected to cut travel time significantly, improve connectivity to western suburbs, and reduce pollution caused by idling vehicles at the busy junction.
