Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop indigenous naval systems, unmanned platforms, and maritime technologies. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem and expand opportunities in both domestic and global markets.
Kolkata, March 5, 2026: Reinforcing India’s vision of self-reliance in defense and maritime technology, GRSE and KSSL formalized a strategic collaboration through a memorandum of understanding. The partnership will focus on delivering indigenous solutions across a wide spectrum of naval and maritime systems, including ship propulsion, mechanical systems for naval and commercial vessels, integrated platform management systems, steering and stabilizer assemblies, and deck equipment.
A major highlight of the collaboration is the joint development of unmanned platforms such as Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). These technologies are expected to enhance India’s naval capabilities while also creating export opportunities in international markets.
The MoU was signed by senior officials from both organizations in the presence of leadership from GRSE and Bharat Forge, underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing indigenous defense innovation. Analysts believe this collaboration will accelerate India’s maritime modernization and position the country as a competitive player in global defense exports.
