In a recent announcement ahead of International Women’s Day 2026, IndiGo confirmed that it now employs more than 1,000 women pilots, becoming the first airline in India to achieve this milestone. Women pilots now account for around 17.5 percent of IndiGo’s cockpit workforce, which is more than three times the global aviation industry average.
Industry experts note that India already has one of the highest percentages of women pilots globally, with the country’s aviation sector steadily encouraging more women to pursue careers in flying and aviation operations.
