Swiggy Delivers Big: 12 Lakh Jobs on the Menu in Landmark Deal with Labour Ministry

India's Ministry of Labour & Employment and food ordering giant Swiggy have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create more than 12 lakh (1.2 million) gig and logistics opportunities over the next two to three years. The partnership, which revolves around the National Career Service (NCS) portal, focuses on transforming job access for young people, women, and alternative work seekers all over India and is an important move in the direction of public-private partnerships in workforce development.

Strategic Partnership Details

Swiggy and the Labour Ministry entered into an MoU to list verified gig and delivery vacancies on the government's NCS portal via real-time API integration, which allows for hassle-free job listings and application tracking.
The programme aims at generating more than 12 lakh jobs within the next 2–3 years through delivery, logistics, and support roles in urban and semi-urban India.

Focus on Inclusivity and Flexibility

Specific focus on inclusive recruitment, with special opportunities for youth, women, and candidates looking for flexible or location-specific work.
The NCS portal, already linking over 1.25 crore active job seekers with 40 lakh employers, will now provide a wider range of gig economy employment.
