Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose the launch of the 72nd National Volleyball Championship to deliver a powerful message on India's Olympic ambitions. Over 1,000 players from 58 teams across the country are competing in Varanasi from January 4 to 11, showcasing rising talent in volleyball. Modi emphasized how such events reflect India's unity under the banner of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. The championship not only boosts competition but also positions Varanasi as a key hub for national sports initiatives.

This statement builds on years of groundwork. India has formally submitted a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee through the Indian Olympic Association. Ahmedabad emerges as a frontrunner host city, with plans for twin-city development alongside Gandhinagar and a budget spanning Rs 34,700 crore to Rs 64,000 crore.

In the past decade, India has hosted over 20 major international events, proving its organizational capabilities. From the U-17 FIFA World Cup to the Hockey World Cup and chess tournaments, cities nationwide have stepped up.
