Adani Defence and Aerospace has delivered the first batch of 2,000 Prahar light machine guns (LMGs) to the Indian Army under the Make in India initiative. Manufactured at the company’s Small Arms Complex in Gwalior, the delivery was completed 11 months ahead of schedule, boosting India’s defence capabilities.
Adani Defence marked a major milestone in India’s defence manufacturing sector with the handover of Prahar LMGs to the Army. The ceremony, held at the Gwalior facility, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and Adani Defence, underscoring the importance of indigenous production in strengthening national security.
Manufacturing And Delivery Ahead Of Schedule
The Prahar LMGs, chambered in 7.62 mm calibre, were produced at Adani’s Small Arms Complex near Gwalior. The company achieved delivery 11 months ahead of the original timeline, reflecting efficiency and commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence. The full order of 40,000 LMGs is expected to be completed within three years.
