Women Agniveers Make Historic Entry At Republic Day Parade

The 77th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi will mark a historic milestone as women Agniveers join the celebrations for the very first time. Nine women Agniveers will march with the Indian Air Force band, which comprises 66 members, showcasing ceremonial tunes before dignitaries and citizens gathered on Kartavya Path. This inclusion reflects the government’s vision of empowering women through the Agnipath recruitment scheme and expanding their role in the armed forces.  

Flight Lieutenant Akshita Dhankar will add to the significance of the occasion by unfurling the national flag alongside President Droupadi Murmu. The IAF band, led by Sergeant Charles Antony Daniel, will complement the 144-member marching contingent commanded by Squadron Leader Jagdesh Kumar. Together, they will present a vibrant display of discipline, tradition, and inclusivity.  

Historic Participation

Expanding Roles For Women In Uniform
