NHAI To Deploy AI Dashcams Across 40,000 Km Of Highways

In a major step toward technology-driven infrastructure management, NHAI has announced the rollout of AI-powered dashcam monitoring systems across India’s national highway network. The initiative aims to improve road safety, reduce maintenance delays, and ensure smoother travel for commuters and freight operators.  

Technology Integration  
The AI-enabled cameras will be installed on Route Patrol Vehicles (RPVs), which will conduct weekly surveys of highway stretches. Using advanced analytics, the system can identify over 30 types of road issues, including potholes, faded markings, and broken lights. Data will be uploaded to NHAI’s central portal for immediate action.
