Tamil Nadu Transport Minister S S Sivasankar flagged off Chennai Ula 2.0, a fleet of six electric hop-on, hop-off buses designed to connect the city’s cultural and historical landmarks. Covering a 46-km circular route, the initiative promotes eco-friendly transport, enhances accessibility, and strengthens Chennai’s sustainable urban mobility vision.
Chennai has taken a major step toward sustainable and accessible public transport with the launch of Chennai Ula 2.0. The initiative, flagged off by Tamil Nadu Transport and Electricity Minister S S Sivasankar at Anna Square bus terminus, introduces six modern electric, air-conditioned buses operating on a hop-on, hop-off model.
The service builds on the success of the heritage circuit bus service launched earlier in January 2026, offering residents and tourists a convenient way to explore the city’s rich cultural and historical sites. The buses will traverse a 46-km circular route, connecting key landmarks such as Fort St. George, Marina Beach, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, and Santhome Basilica.
