Army Runners Sweep Podium At 4th Lumbini Peace Marathon

Held at Buddha’s birthplace in Lumbini, the marathon attracted strong domestic and international participation. Despite competition from athletes from China and Kenya, Nepal’s army runners showcased tactical brilliance and endurance, turning the event into a showcase of military athletic supremacy.  

Men’s Full Marathon Triumph  
The men’s marathon saw a clean sweep by TAC athletes. Binod Rokaya clinched first place, followed closely by Sushil Kumar Shahi and Narendra Singh Raut. Their disciplined pacing and teamwork ensured an all-Army podium, reinforcing TAC’s dominance in long-distance running.  

Women’s Half-Marathon Upset  
In the women’s half-marathon, Purna Laxmi Neupane emerged victorious, defeating former South Asian Games gold medalist Santoshi Shrestha. Neupane’s win highlighted the depth of talent within TAC and marked a significant shift in Nepal’s women’s athletics.  

International Participation  
The marathon also featured international runners, with China’s Wang Chi and Kenya’s Julius Wakome finishing fourth and fifth in the men’s category. Their presence underscored the growing global appeal of the Lumbini Peace Marathon.
