Trains Take Off: Bihar Gets 7 New Routes Ahead Of Polls

Bihar is set for a railway upgrade with seven new trains launching from September 29, 2025, just before the assembly elections. Indian Railways, under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, has approved four intra-state services and three long-haul Amrit Bharat Express trains to deepen connectivity and travel convenience.

Key Highlights
Four trains will connect towns within Bihar, boosting local commuting options.
Three Amrit Bharat Express trains will link Bihar with key states like Telangana, Rajasthan, and the national capital.
All services begin on October 1, except the Amrit Bharat ones which follow their weekly schedules.

Routes & Stops You Should Know
Danapur–Jhajha Fast Passenger (22 LHB coaches) will run six days a week (excluding Sundays), halting at 22 stations including Patna, Bakhtiyarpur, Barh, Mokama, Kiul, and Jamui.
Patna–Buxar Fast Passenger (20 ICF coaches) also operates six days a week, with stops like Danapur, Ara, and Raghunathpur.
Patna–Nawada DEMU Passenger stops at 21 stations, serving places including Sheikhpura, Barbigha, and Bihar Sharif.
Patna–Islampur DEMU Passenger will halt at 19 stations including Punpun, Hilsa, and Khorampur.
Amrit Bharat Express trains include Muzaffarpur-Charlapalli, Darbhanga-Madar, and Chhapra-Anand Vihar Terminal, stopping across 19 to 31 stations depending on route.

Reason & Impact

This rollout comes as Bihar heads to polls, demonstrating government focus on infrastructure and people’s ease of movement. The new inter-state services support economic opportunities, while intra-state ones ease daily travel burdens. Residents can expect shorter wait times, better access, and more reliable train services.

What’s Next For Passengers

For commuters in Bihar and neighbouring regions, these new trains mean improved options starting October 1. Keep an eye on ticket availability, check stoppage lists for your town, and plan travel accordingly—especially for weekly Amrit Bharat routes.
