Track Stars Shine as India Clocks 24 Medals at Asian Championships

India concluded its campaign at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, with a whopping collection of 24 medals and finishing in second place in the overall table. The last day was marked by Indian athletes producing spectacular performances, adding six medals to the country's tally.

Notable Performances
Parul Chaudhary won her second silver in the women's 5000m event, timed at 15:15.33s, after a previous silver in the 3000m steeplechase.

The women's 4x100m relay squad consisting of Abinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS, Srabani Nanda, and Nithya Gandhe took silver with a season-best time of 43.86s.

Sachin Yadav, a javelin thrower, marked a personal best of 85.16m to take silver, coming behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who took gold with a 86.40m throw.

Sprinter Animesh Kujur clocked a new national record of 20.32s in the men's 200m to win the bronze medal.

Middle-distance runner Pooja won the bronze medal in the women's 800m with a personal best of 2:01.89s.

Asian Games medallist Vithya Ramraj won the bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles in 56.46s.

India's Overall Performance
India's medal tally was short of 27 medals at the last edition, but the team did better than its gold total of 6, picking up 8. The nation came in second to China, which bagged 19 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze. Japan came third with 5 gold, 11 silver, and 12 bronze.
