Tanzania's Financial Revolution: Can They Reach 85% Digital Access by 2028?
The government of Tanzania, through the Bank of Tanzania (BOT), is striving to attain 85% digital financial access by 2028. The National Financial Inclusion Framework III (2023-2028) targets increasing formal financial services, particularly in rural regions, and improving consumer experiences. At present, 76% of the population is covered by formal financial services, compared to 65% in 2017. The program seeks to overcome obstacles and enhance financial literacy among underprivileged groups such as women, youths, and MSMEs.
