Bhatti sought to earmark 4,000 MW of decentralised ground-mounted grid-connected solar power plants with capacities varying between 500 kW to 2 MW, as unanimously resolved under PM-KUSUM Component-A. He was alarmed to hear that this earmarking was brought down to 1,000 MW in the review process of MNRE.
To offer a permanent irrigation solution, he called for the allocation of 1 lakh solar pump sets under PM-KUSUM Component-B and 2 lakh pump sets under Component-C. Telangana has already filed a Detailed Project Report through TSREDCO for these projects.
The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission recently approved the procurement of 4,000 MW solar power under PM-KUSUM, aiding the state in fulfilling renewable purchase obligations and covering future energy deficits.
Bhatti pointed out Telangana's pioneering role in agriculture development and the role of solar power in providing round-the-clock electricity supply to farmers, increasing income, and minimizing environmental degradation.
The government is also encouraging solar power generation by women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with the aim of producing 1,000 MW and empowering rural communities
Officials are asked to identify government and private lands that can be used for solar plants and approach banks for financial support for farmers and SHGs.

The effort comes in line with Telangana's vision to increase clean energy, promote sustainable agriculture, and improve farmers' incomes through solar energy.
