Odisha's Coastal Villages Pioneer Seawater Desalination: A Game-Changer for Water Security
In a groundbreaking move, two coastal villages in Ganjam district, Odisha, are set to receive desalinated seawater for daily use, marking a first for the state. The Ganjam district administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the state's first seawater desalination plant, to be established within the IREL plant premises. This innovative project will supply approximately 1.5 million liters of desalinated water per day to Matikhal and Arjeepalli villages. The initiative promises to revolutionize water access in coastal areas, potentially setting a precedent for sustainable water solutions across India's coastline.
