Vedanta Limited celebrated the International Day of Women in Mining with functions to mark its pioneering efforts at gender diversity in the mining sector. The company and Hindustan Zinc have created India's largest collection of women in underground mining and set new benchmarks for inclusion and diversity.

Empowering Women's Involvement in Mining

Hindustan Zinc and Vedanta led India's induction of women into underground mining operations in 2019.

Over 550 women now directly occupy core mining roles in various business units.

The organization is also set to achieve 30% gender diversity by 2030 from the current 22%.

Vedanta has formed first-of-its-kind in India all-women underground mine rescue teams.

Women professionals are leading the production of aluminium as well as locomotive operations.

The tele-remote mines of the company, drone surveillance, and automation make mining safe and convenient for women.
