Kamal Haasan Embraces AI at 70, Says Cinema Shouldn’t Fear Technology’s Rise
At 70, Kamal Haasan is demonstrating that learning is never done—neither by legends. The veteran actor recently visited America to learn about Artificial Intelligence, spending months learning about its possibilities and implications, particularly for films. In interviews, Haasan was unequivocal that he has no fear of an AI takeover in films. Rather, he feels that AI is "here to stay" and to be approached with curiosity and caution, rather than fear.

Haasan insisted AI in film is in its childhood phase, i.e., visual storytelling, and the industry is "just scratching the surface." He warned directors not to dive into AI without complete understanding, warning that unguided foray would be risky. Citing examples like AR Rahman's use of AI in restoring the voice of singers, Haasan acknowledged the technology's inventive scope but emphasized the need for ethical implementation.

For Haasan, technology is a pathway to artistic development, not a danger. His message: embrace change, keep learning, and allow cinema to evolve with the times—without fear.
