Indian Railways Accelerates Renewable Energy With Solar, Wind And Hybrid Power Projects

Indian Railways has announced significant progress in its renewable energy initiatives, commissioning large-scale solar and wind projects while planning hybrid power solutions to ensure uninterrupted supply. • A total of 812 MW of solar power capacity has been commissioned across multiple railway zones.  
• 93 MW of wind energy projects have been added to the grid, enhancing clean energy integration.  
• Plans for 1,600 MW of round-the-clock hybrid power are underway, combining solar and wind with storage solutions.  
• The renewable energy projects are designed to power traction loads, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.  
• Indian Railways has already achieved 143 MW of rooftop solar installations across stations and service buildings.  
• Energy efficiency measures, including LED lighting and smart metering, complement the renewable push.
