Japanese tire giant Bridgestone Corporation has invested a staggering Rs 720 crore (USD 85 million) to enhance the production capacity and technological ability of its Chakan facility near Pune, Maharashtra, and Indore factory. This comes after Bridgestone reaffirmed its long-term commitment to India's rapidly transforming automobile sector and lends further strength to Maharashtra's image as an industrial powerhouse.

Expansion Projects and Technical Upgrades

The capacity expansion program will begin in early 2025 and will add 1.1 million units of production capacity of tyres annually to the Pune facility by 2029, targeting the growing demand for premium and high-performance tyres in India.

The Indore facility will undergo significant technology upgrades to enable it to boost its ability to produce Bridgestone's premium tyre segment, in accordance with the company's "premium-mass" strategy.

A new satellite technology center will be established at the Pune plant in 2025 to build Bridgestone's own 'Dan-Totsu' products. The center will spearhead innovation in tyre design, environmental performance, and durability based on Bridgestone's ENLITEN technology for the Indian market.
