Why iPhones Are More Affordable

Local manufacturing: About 25% of Apple’s smartphones are now made in India, reducing import duties and logistics costs.

Policy support: Government incentives under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme encouraged Apple suppliers like Foxconn and Wistron to expand operations.

Retail expansion: Apple now operates six flagship stores in India, improving direct-to-consumer pricing and reducing reliance on third-party markups.

Relative affordability: While current iPhone prices range between ₹70,000–₹80,000, adjusted for inflation, they are cheaper compared to 2016 when the iPhone 7 cost ₹60,000 (equivalent to ₹94,000 today).
