Cricket enthusiasts witnessed history at Sawai Mansingh Stadium when 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a sensational entry in the Indian Premier League with a bang. In his debut game for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants, the teenager was the youngest player ever in IPL and shocked spectators by hitting a six off the very first delivery he received from veteran pacer Shardul Thakur.

Suryavanshi, who replaced injured Sanju Samson as an Impact Substitute, demonstrated steel nerves and panache of a player much older. He backed up his daring opening with six off Avesh Khan again, and soon zoomed to 34 from only 20 balls, with three sixes and two fours. His audacious strokeplay and an 85-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal took social media by storm and placed him in a rare group of players to have hit a six off their first IPL ball.

However, the fairytale debut ended in heartbreak as Suryavanshi was stumped by Rishabh Pant off Aiden Markram’s bowling, leaving the young prodigy in tears as he walked back to the dugout. Despite the emotional exit, Suryavanshi’s performance has already made him a name to watch in world cricket.
