Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Shahjahanpur on Sunday to review the new 3.5-km airstrip on the Ganga Expressway, which will be India's first expressway airstrip to allow day and night fighter jet landings. His helicopter landed near Jalalabad, where he inspected the airstrip surface, lighting, and safety measures in preparation for a historic night landing exercise by the Indian Air Force on May 2.
Adityanath emphasized strict timelines and highest-quality construction, with the completion target of the expressway by November 2025. The 594-km Ganga Expressway between Meerut and Prayagraj is a flagship project aimed at UP's connectivity and economic growth. Security has been stepped up with CCTV cameras and animal control, and a five-kilometer no-fly zone ensures safe operations.
