On World Liver Day 2025 (April 19), health professionals worldwide emphasized "Food is Medicine" to combat rising liver diseases like Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). India's Ministry of Health urged citizens to reduce edible oil intake by 10% and become physically active, while Prime Minister Modi indicated obesity as a causative factor for liver damage.
Key Expert Tips:
Dr. G.S. Prabudoss (Chennai): "Beware of detox myths—limit sugar, do not drink alcohol, and eat antioxidant foods.".
Dr. Saurabh Bansal (Delhi): "Follow high-fiber diets, exercise, and Hepatitis A/B vaccinations."
Dr. Bhavesh Patel (Vadodara): "Consume green tea, beetroot juice, and lemon water for natural detox."
Dr. Shubham Vatsya (Fortis): "Turmeric, walnuts, and leafy greens promote liver regeneration."
MASLD, which is linked to obesity and diabetes, affects 13.5% of Sub-Saharan Africans and a growing Indian urban population. The damage can be reversed by early diagnosis using elastography scans and healthy diets.
