The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform urban centers across the state with a massive ₹25,000 crore investment package, which was announced on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The integrated urban development program has been planned to redevelop cities and towns through numerous strategic interventions.
The scheme entails the development of 100 new townships within the next five years, the establishment of the UP State Capital Region, and the expansion of metro services for better connectivity. Additionally, 58 urban bodies will be formed as 'Model Smart Urban Bodies' with each receiving ₹2.50 crore.
A few of the priority sectors include stormwater drainage systems in 10 cities (₹1,131 crore), Amrut 2.0 scheme (₹4,100 crore), and model roads under CM GRIDS (₹800 crore). Convention centers, recreational spaces, sports complexes, and international shooting ranges will also be developed under the project to make urban life more habitable
