Shillong roared to life on Saturday as the Indian Racing Festival, organised by the Meghalaya Motorsport Society in collaboration with Assam Rifles Laitkor, delivered an electrifying showcase of speed and skill. The Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Cantonment in Laitkor transformed into a motorsport carnival, drawing crowds of car and bike enthusiasts eager for adrenaline-pumping action.

Spectators were treated to dramatic drifting demonstrations in powerful Lexus and BMW cars, their tyres screeching across the tarmac in expertly controlled slides. The spectacle didn’t stop there—Superbike stunt riders wowed the audience, while young karting talents zipped around the circuit on their Rotax Karts. The festival’s unique blend of motorsport and local culture shone through as students from Martin Luther Christian University performed traditional dances, infusing the event with Meghalaya’s vibrant spirit.

Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah graced the occasion, celebrating the event’s role in inspiring the region’s youth. With the crowd’s energy at its peak and Shillong’s scenic beauty as the backdrop, the Indian Racing Festival proved a memorable celebration of passion, power, and community.
