Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has made a milestone entry in its journey towards renewable energy with the commissioning of the first phase of its 25 MW group captive solar project at Vastan, Surat. The announcement, made on April 24, 2025, showcases GIPCL's focus on augmenting clean energy infrastructure and assisting the state's green dreams.

Project Overview: The Vastan 25 MW solar project is the first phase of a bigger 75 MW solar project under development in close proximity to the Surat Lignite Power Plant. The project is for captive power supply for the promoter companies of GIPCL, namely GSFC and GACL.

Strategic Execution: The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the entire 75 MW project was awarded to Madhav Infra Projects at an estimated cost of ₹329.73 crore. The whole project is to be completed in 11 months, with the first phase already operational.
