The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 13 districts in Jharkhand, warning of thunder, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph. The alert is in effect for April 26 and 27, covering Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Sahibganj, and Godda.
This shift in weather is expected to bring relief from the scorching heat, with temperatures likely to drop by up to five degrees Celsius. The current maximum temperature across Jharkhand is reported to be four degrees above normal. The change is attributed to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, leading to light to moderate rainfall.
Residents are advised to take precautions, including seeking shelter in safe locations and avoiding standing under trees or near electricity poles during lightning activity. The orange alert signifies the need for preparedness, urging people to stay vigilant and follow safety measures.
