While the protests from unemployed individuals continue, they demand clarity on irregularities in recruitment processes, the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) announced another deadline for submitting categorically segregated lists of candidates to the state government Education Department. They will now submit three lists for the Education Department by April 30: a “genuine” list - for those candidates that there is beyond a doubt, a “tainted” list for candidates who are "tainted" beyond a doubt, and a list for candidates who’s Optical Mark Recognition sheets (OMR) had systematic errors.

District Inspectors of Schools are being pushed to complete these lists by their districts. They missed the previous deadline of Monday to separate these lists for public dissemination, of which upset candidates stage a demonstrative sit-out outside the WBSSC office, even to this hour.

Bratya Basu, the state education minister, argued against their decision to publicize the education department segregated lists. She noted legalities call for procedural consideration for the decision not to publish the lists. The education department acted on the order from the Supreme Court that annulled the appointment of around 26,000 teaching staff and non-teaching staff due to large scale irregularities exhibited in the 2016 selection appointment process.
