As a major step towards sustainable management, the Basudebpur Jemari Gram Panchayat Office has issued the second call for installing a solar power system within its office premises. The motive is to have continuous, environmentally friendly electricity supply for the panchayat office, reflecting India's general push towards embracing renewable energy usage in rural government.
The solar plant is expected to decrease the office's reliance on traditional grid power, lower electricity bills, and provide an example for other surrounding panchayats. Inspired by the success of similar solar empowerment schemes in villages such as Masali, Gujarat, the Gram Panchayat hopes to capitalize on government incentives and community engagement to make the scheme economically feasible and socially relevant.
Offcials point out that the solar system will not only facilitate everyday administrative functions but also power digital services and local programs, even in the event of a power outage. The project highlights increasing momentum for the adoption of solar power in the country, particularly in Assam and Gujarat, where government-initiated schemes and local leadership have revolutionized rural energy access.
