Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings will welcome Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 15 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. Both the teams have had an inconsistent run in IPL 2025 till date, KKR having a narrow edge in the points table (3 wins out of 6 matches) as against Punjab Kings (3 wins out of 5 matches). Iyer, the KKR captain who had guided his team to the IPL title a little over a year ago, now captains PBKS and is in electrifying form, achieving a strike rate of 208.33 this season, the highest among Indian batsmen with over 100 balls faced.
KKR's major strength lies in their spin unit, led by Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, who have bowled most of their overs with great economy and average. The Mullanpur surface will be a batsmen-friendly surface, promising a high-scoring thriller. Punjab Kings will look to bounce back from a recent loss at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad and enhance their playoff prospects with a victory over their former captain's side.
