In the aftermath of Myanmar's devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28, India has stepped up as a regional first responder under Operation Brahma. The Indian Army's Engineer Recce Team, comprising one officer and five personnel, has been deployed to assess the structural damage in Mandalay and Naypyidaw. Their mission? To provide technical insights for relief and reconstruction efforts.

India's humanitarian outreach doesn't stop there. A field hospital in Mandalay has treated over 1,650 patients, performing critical surgeries and offering psychological support to survivors. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been on the ground with 80 personnel and specially trained canine units, aiding search-and-rescue operations.

Adding to the relief, India has delivered over 625 metric tonnes of humanitarian supplies, including food, medical aid, and essential equipment. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar has also extended support to the Indian diaspora, providing food and resources to local community kitchens serving thousands daily.

This operation underscores India's commitment to its Neighbourhood First policy, showcasing a blend of compassion and cutting-edge technology, such as robotic mules and nano drones, in disaster response.
