Despite common myths, the hottest ever temperature ever recorded on earth at 56.7°C (134°F) was achieved in Death Valley, California, USA at Furnace Creek on 10th July 1913. Death Valley has almost achieved this figure in recent years with temperatures regularly exceeding 54°C. As searing heatwaves struck the Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan, no place has officially broken Death Valley's record to become the world's unchallenged heat capital. Even other potential runners-up like Iran and Kuwait had temperatures above 53°C but none that could compare with Death Valley's record, which was scientifically confirmed. This US desert valley remains the world outlier, its unique geography offering perfect conditions for scorching heat. With planetary temperatures being driven up by global warming, Death Valley's record comes as a stark reminder of the extremes of the planet. Source: Wikipedia, HowStuffWorks
