Samsung will invest another ₹10 billion (₹1,000 crore) in its Sriperumbudur plant, the state's Industries Minister said on X. The new commitment is in addition to Samsung's recent investments in the state, making the state a hub for producing advanced electronics.

Samsung already has the Sriperumbudur factory, previously allocated a ₹1,588 crore investment in a cutting-edge compressor production factory. This production complex, that spans 22 acres, can manufacture 8 million compressor units a year and supply both Indian domestic markets as well as global markets. Samsung is now augmenting this in another round of capacity building as the current increase in capacity can do little except generate additional resources that can potentially fund future endeavors.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has praised Samsung's continued collaboration, pointing to the company's contribution to state industrial development and employment. The government has also urged Samsung to explore establishing a semiconductor production unit, with full support for such high-tech projects.

Samsung's increasing presence in Tamil Nadu is a reflection of its long-term commitment to India, consistent with national objectives of increasing manufacturing, exports, and technological advancement.
