Safety Gets a Power Boost: ‘Safeline Abhiyan’ Shocks Up Worker Protection in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh state government has initiated the 'Safeline Abhiyan' by UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) with an initiative to encourage safety among state electricity staff. Launched officially by UPPCL Chairman Dr. Ashish Goel, the campaign aims to prevent electrical accidents and ensure frontline line workers' health. For the program, workers will be taught practical handling of safety kits—helmets, gloves, jackets, and shoes—in addition to work-site practical safety manuals.

The program, managed by IntelliSmart, began with 800 linemen in 14 units and will be implemented in phases until December, reaching all field staff. The move is one of the ongoing reforms and digitalization in the power sector, underlining the government's emphasis on worker safety.
