India is set to transform its remote border regions with the Viksit Vibrant Villages Program, scheduled to take place from May 15 to May 30, 2025. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the initiative aims to empower communities in Leh-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand through grassroots development efforts.

The program will engage 500 MY Bharat volunteers from across the country, who will work directly with residents in 100 selected villages. These volunteers will lead projects focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure enhancement, and cultural preservation, ensuring long-term positive change in these frontier communities.

Registration for the program officially commenced on April 23, 2025, via the MY Bharat Portal. Volunteers from different states and union territories are encouraged to apply, with 10 participants selected from each UT and 15 from each participating state. The selection process prioritizes individuals with a background in youth empowerment, rural development, and community service.

The initiative will unfold over seven days, with each day dedicated to a specific area of development. Activities will include skill-building workshops, environmental protection programs, career counseling sessions, and cultural exchange events. Volunteers will also document the heritage and resilience of border communities, sharing their experiences through digital platforms and community discussions.

By fostering youth leadership and strengthening local governance, the Viksit Vibrant Villages Program aims to give India’s border villages a new identity, ensuring sustainable growth and national consciousness.
