Pune is to alleviate extreme traffic congestion via a fresh double-decker flyover to be constructed on Paud Road in Kothrud. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have put forth a 700-metre-long flyover worth ₹80–85 crore. The flyover will run from Kothrud garbage depot to Lohia IT Park, Bhusari Colony, with the vehicle flyover in between and the Metro viaduct above, emulating successful models at Nal Stop and Pune University Road.
The project will eliminate bottlenecks at four major chowks, reducing journey time for users of roads from Pirangut, Mulshi Road, and the Mumbai bypass by a huge extent. The proposal is at its final stages of sanctioning, without the need for additional land acquisition. Residents and authorities anticipate rapid implementation to offer relief to one of Pune's busiest roads.
