Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed India's bureaucracy on 17th Civil Services Day (April 21, 2025), re-emphasizing them as the "steel frame" of a dynamic India. Paying tribute to 75 years after the enactment of the Constitution and 150 years after the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, he exhorted bureaucrats to demonstrate "extraordinary speed" to fulfill citizens' aspirations, in view of rapid alterations at the global scale and India's mission to become the world's third-largest economy.
The PM highlighted "holistic development" – not a single village or family left behind – and valued initiatives like Poshan Tracker and PM Vishwakarma for their grassroots outreach. Distinction was accorded to model districts at the forefront in solar adoption, education access, and healthcare transformation.
Modi stressed next-generation governance reforms with the integration of technology and empathy and spoke of civil servants as "architects of Viksit Bharat" requiring policy to be linked to public trust.
