The Ministry of External Affairs, in collaboration with India Post, will inaugurate a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) on April 30, 2025, expanding passport service coverage even deeper into the country. The intention is to get passport services closer to citizens, especially where old-fashioned Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) are less convenient. POPSKs provide basic services such as receipt of application, police verification facilitation, and despatch of passports, leveraging the extensive postal network to reduce travelling and waiting time for applicants.
This additional POPSK will supplement the existing network of over 429 POPSKs spread all over the nation, 65 of which are situated in aspirational districts, indicating the government's commitment to citizen-focused, transparent, and efficient passport services through the Passport Seva Project. Services offered at POPSKs can be readily booked online through the Passport Seva portal or the mPassport Seva mobile app.
