Odisha Cabinet Gives Nod for ₹108 Crore Anandapur Barrage Project: Biggest Boost for Irrigation and Rural Development

Odisha Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, cleared an investment of ₹108 crore for the Anandapur Barrage Project that is integrated in Keonjhar district, a major milestone in the agricultural and rural development agenda of the state.
 
Highlights:
  • Strategic Expansion of Irrigation: The scheme will establish key underground pipeline systems, to irrigate 3,450 hectares of cultivable land in the Anandapur, Hatadihi, and Ghasipura blocks, with specific command area development under both the Baitarani Left and Right Bank Canals.
  • Broader Impact: This segment is part of the overall Anandapur Barrage project and seeks to ultimately irrigate 60,000 hectares in Keonjhar and Balasore districts, benefiting directly thousands of farmers and increasing agricultural productivity.
  • Timeline & Execution: The project is to be completed within 18 months, a reflection of the government's commitment to timely completion and effective infrastructure deployment.
  • Socio-Economic Gains: Regular irrigation is anticipated to revolutionize regional farming communities, improve yields, and accelerate socio-economic development in the area.
