It is now confirmed by Neeraj Chopra that Pakistan's Paris Olympics gold medallist Arshad Nadeem has been officially invited to compete in the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 to be held on May 24 at Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium. The meet, upgraded to a World Athletics 'A' category Continental Tour Gold-level event, will feature the world's top javelin throwers competing.
Arshad will be accompanied by stars like two-time World Champion Anderson Peters (Grenada), former Olympic champion Thomas Rohler (Germany), former World Champion Julius Yego (Kenya), and America's Curtis Thompson. Neeraj also announced that 3-4 Indian throwers will participate, making it a landmark event in India's athletics calendar.
Although Arshad has been invited, his entry is not yet certain as he is discussing the matter with his coach. The change of venue from Panchkula to Bengaluru was due to lighting issues, and the Karnataka government extended strong support.
This meet offers athletes a crucial opportunity to earn ranking points ahead of the World Championships.
