NAVER Backs Virtual IP Powerhouse SCON: 30+ VTubers & Real-Time Tech

NAVER's venture arm D2SF has invested in SCON, a Seoul-based virtual IP and content creation startup. SCON operates 30+ virtual characters, including VTuber group Meechu, and provides B2B services such as 3D motion capture, live streaming, and content delivery to gaming and webtoon firms.

 

Key highlights:

 

Tech stack: Proprietary studio and in-house real-time production tools for stable content delivery.

 

Monetization: Revenue streams include live donations, merchandise, advertising, and expansion into games/web novels. 

 

Synergy: Collaboration planned with NAVER's Motion Stage studio and other portfolio startups like MOVIN' (motion capture) and Claythis (3D AI).
