India's biggest cruise terminal, Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), went on stream officially on April 21, 2025, marking the marinating phase into maritime tourism. The ₹556 crore facility at Ballard Pier has the potential to accommodate 1 million passengers and 5 ships in the month while the top decks hold commercial spaces along with parking locations totaling 300 spots and 72 check-in points, respectively. It has emerged in 415,000 sq ft area.
Public-private partnership, handled by Ballard Pier Port and JM Baxi, has plans to position Mumbai as a destination for world cruising, with visions of 900 ship calls yearly by 2030. Cordelia Cruises from the facility is running right now at twice-a-month sailing, with promise of increased volumes as international itineraries initiate locally.
Simultaneously, ₹5,700 crore worth of deals for infrastructure of Vadhavan Port, including cargo terminals, were executed. The terminal also launched shore-to-ship power supply and redeveloped heritage sites, combining modernity with maritime heritage of Mumbai.
