India is expected to receive above-normal monsoon rains in 2025, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting seasonal rainfall of 105% of the long-term average. The monsoon, which is critical for agriculture and the economy, is expected to begin June 1 over Kerala and extend up to half of September. Neutral El Niño and Indian Ocean Dipole, and lower snow cover over Eurasia and the Himalayas, are held to be favorable for a normal monsoon. Most regions will see increased rainfall, although Northwest India, Northeast, and Tamil Nadu will have sub-normal rain. This positive outlook can be anticipated to enhance crop yields and propel economic growth, alleviating farmers' woes and easing inflation concerns. Source: Economic Times, India Today, Hindustan
