Mini Diplomats: JD Vance’s Children Find Kindred Spirits in Trump and Modi

During a heartfelt speech in Jaipur today, US Vice President JD Vance, who is presently on a four-day trip to India, called the evolving US-India relationship "a bond similar to a family bond beyond diplomacy." Vance said, at the moment, that his three children, sons Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel, had established a unique rapport with only two world leaders, the former US President Donald Trump, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 
 
Vance went on to describe how, after a family dinner hosted by PM Modi at his official residence in New Delhi, his eldest son Ewan had been so touched by the hospitality and the feeling of the evening, that he told his dad, "Dad, maybe I can live in India." The Vice President underscored that these types of personal connections create a wonderful basis for the future of the US-India relationship. 
 
He added, "My 7-year-old and 5-year-old sons and three-year-old baby girl Mirabel have really liked, I should say they have only built rapport with two world leaders. The first of course is President Trump because he has certain energies, Prime Minister Modi has the exact same thing. Our kids liked him! I think it's a great basis for the future of our relationship!" 
 
Vance also noted that his wife, Usha Vance, became a celebrity in India because of the visit, and recollected a historic gesture that PM Modi, who surprised Vance's son Vivek with a birthday gift during a meeting in Paris earlier this year. 
 
The visit also included a candid moment when Vice President Vance's young son was seen sitting on Prime Minister Modi's lap, and the Prime Minister gifted the children symbolic peacock feathers, showing once again the warmth of the two families in person.
