Medanta, which is owned by Global Health, will invest ₹500 crore to establish a 400-bed super specialty hospital in Guwahati with the vision to serve 50 million residents of Assam and surrounding states. The Board approved the acquisition of 3 acres of land from Assam Electricity Grid Corporation for ₹30 crore, and the centre will have 20+ specialties like transplants and robotic surgeries.
Well-placed along National Highway 27, the hospital will fill gaps in key healthcare needs in the Northeast by riding on the connectivity of Guwahati as the gateway to the region. Medanta's expansion supplements its current chain of five hospitals and one upcoming hospital in Noida.
This is an evolution process to offer state-of-the-art treatment to disadvantaged communities," said Chairman Dr. Naresh Trehan, highlighting the project's alignment with Assam's healthcare vision. Global Health shares closed 1.09% lower at ₹1,201.50 during the announcement
