In a gripping encounter at the IPL, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) held their nerve to defeat the Delhi Capitals by 14 runs in a high-octane clash. Batting first, KKR posted an imposing total of 204/9 in their 20 overs, setting the stage for a thrilling chase.
The Capitals came out swinging, with Faf du Plessis leading the charge with a quickfire 62 off 45 balls, and skipper Axar Patel contributing a blistering 43 off just 23 deliveries. Vipraj Nigam added late fireworks with 38 off 19, but the mounting run rate and regular wickets hampered Delhi’s pursuit.
KKR’s bowling attack saw notable contributions from Sunil Narine (3/29) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/39), who kept things tight during crucial overs. Anukul Roy was economical and picked up a key wicket, while Andre Russell also chipped in with a scalp.
Despite Delhi’s spirited fightback, they fell short, ending their innings at 190/9. With this victory, Kolkata further solidified their position in the standings and demonstrated their all-round prowess once again.
