Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh has crossed the ₹50 crore mark in India, witnessing a 26 percent increase in earnings on its eighth day. The film, which had seen a dip in collections midweek, rebounded on Friday, benefiting from a Buy One Get One ticket offer.
Kesari 2 earned ₹4.42 crore on its second Friday, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹50.52 crore. The film had previously accumulated ₹46.1 crore in its first week, with its strongest day being Sunday, when it collected ₹12 crore.
The historical drama, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is based on the life of C Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who challenged the British Empire following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role, alongside R Madhavan and Ananya Panday.
Industry analysts predict a strong second weekend for the film, with no major releases until May 1, allowing Kesari 2 to capitalize on audience interest. The film has also performed well internationally, particularly in North America and Australia.
