The holy gates of Kedarnath Dham will officially open for pilgrims at 7 AM on May 2, 2025, signaling the long-awaited beginning of the Char Dham Yatra. The news was shared by the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), as preparations enter the final phase in the Garhwal Himalayas. This year, the opening falls during the auspicious Baishakh month, after traditional rituals at Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath.

The gates of Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2, then Badrinath Dham on May 4, whereas Madmaheshwar and Tungnath temples will be opened later in May.
 
The yatra commences with colorful ceremonies, with the Panch Mukhi Doli procession at Ukhimath and exclusive pujas for Lord Bhairavnath.
 
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has promised tight security and crowd control measures while stressing the significance of the Yatra for religion as well as the state economy.
 
Devotees can undertake the scenic 16-kilometer trek to Kedarnath from Gaurikund or take advantage of helicopter facilities for ease of access.
 
Local administration and the temple committee are making on-the-spot inspections and nailing down logistics to facilitate a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for every visitor.
