In a provocative move, the Chanakya Sena has announced a reward of ₹1 lakh to anyone who "blackens" the face of film director Anurag Kashyap, after his recent remark was perceived as an insult to the Brahmin community. The move followed a virtual meeting of several Brahmin organizations, including the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha and Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Sangh, headed by Pandit Suresh Mishra.
Mishra stated that it was "necessary to teach a lesson to people like Kashyap, who are making baseless allegations against Brahmins and spreading divisiveness in society." The organisations called for strong opposition and public humiliation to deter such incidents in the future against the community.
The episode has set off a fierce discussion on freedom of speech and the boundaries of protest in India.
