India's aviation sector is set for high growth as experts call for leveraging the ongoing worldwide geopolitical shift. While addressing a conference organised by IIM Bangalore in collaboration with France's TBS Education, aviation industry leaders pointed to India's growing position in global value chains and innovations such as eVTOL planes, drones, and AI systems. This change is led by a strategic move towards sustainability and green fuels, representing a turning point for the industry.

India is expected to emerge as the world's fastest-growing large aviation market, with air passenger growth anticipated to overtake China's from 2026 onwards. The aviation market in the country is growing at a fast pace due to an expanding middle class, rising infrastructure development, and government policies like UDAN, which boosts regional connectivity. With almost double the operational airports in the previous decade and grand plans to grow further, India is set to become the third-largest air passenger market in the world by 2030.

Experts highlight that tapping this geopolitical change and technology revolution can hasten India's aviation industry's growth and make it a world hub for manufacturing, maintenance, and green aviation technologies.
